2020 Fender Made in Japan Limited Noir Precision Bass in Satin Black.

The Limited Noir series was released by Fender Japan in December 2020 as a Japan-market limited edition lineup. Fender based the series on traditional models but gave them a much darker treatment: satin black finishes, black hardware, a black 3-ply pickguard with a red center layer, and a red metallic Fender logo on the matching black headstock. The series included Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster and Precision Bass models.

This one is serial JD20019077 and is a particularly lightweight example at only 7 lbs 13 oz. A recent comparable Limited Noir P Bass weighed 7 lbs 14 oz, so that appears to be fairly characteristic of these.

Period documentation for the Noir series specifically notes the black-stained rosewood board, 9.5" radius, narrow-tall frets and U-shaped neck, giving these a slightly more modern playing feel than many of Fender Japan’s traditional vintage-spec P Basses.

Overall in Very Good condition. There are some small marks and signs of use, including a few visible edge chips/dings, but it still presents very well overall and the satin black finish gives it a distinctive understated look.

The frets show almost no visible wear.

It has just been cleaned and set up and is playing well.

The neck and body markings shown in the photos are also reassuring. The neck heel is stamped “LTD PB NOIR” with a 2020 date marking, which matches the model exactly.
