Available now at the Japanese Guitar Company is an exceptional, near-immaculate 2024 Fender FSR Made in Japan Traditional '60s Stratocaster. Produced as a highly limited Factory Special Run (FSR) explicitly for the domestic Japanese boutique market, this striking model never entered standard global distribution catalogs—making it a rare find here in North America.
This guitar balances a rich vintage aesthetic with high-end modern elegance. It features a select body with a gorgeous Transparent Walnut gloss finish that beautifully showcases the natural, tight wood grain underneath. To complement the dark, sophisticated top, Fender appointed this special run with complete premium gold hardware—including the vintage synchronized 6-saddle tremolo, gold jack plate, gold neck plate, and gold vintage-style Gotoh tuners. Outfitted with a 3-ply black pickguard, black pickup covers, and black fluted control knobs, it has a commanding boutique presence.
Built to traditional '60s reissue specifications at Fender's highly respected Japanese production facility, the neck sports a comfortable, period-correct "U" shape profile capped with a premium dark rosewood fingerboard, a standard 9.5" radius, and a genuine bone nut.
The pickguard protective film is still on so the little spot you can see in the pickguard off to the right of the middle pickup is just the film lifted up a bit. I decided to keep it there so the new owner could remove it and have the brand new pickguard look.
This instrument has been completely detailed, pro-vetted, and set up in our shop workshop:
  • Playability: Fully set up with low, lightning-fast action, perfect intonation, and rock-solid tuning stability. It is completely ready to plug in and play straight out of the box.
  • Frets: The fret wire shows virtually zero wear across the board, providing decades of pristine performance.
  • Cosmetics: Overall excellent to pristine condition. The gloss body finish retains a deep mirror shine with only a couple of incredibly faint handling scratches.
  • Transparency Disclosure: For strict collector transparency, there is a minor cosmetic finish chip/crack located right on the edge of the neck pocket joint lip on the bass side (see close-up photo). This is purely a superficial clear-coat finish fracture common on high-gloss MIJ joints and does not affect the structural stability or integrity of the neck pocket in any way.
  • Case: Includes its highly desirable original Fender Tweed hard shell case with a plush interior.
