Up for grabs at the Japanese Guitar Company is a fantastic, highly resonant mid-1970s Penco A-6 Natural Acoustic. Crafted in Nagoya, Japan by the renowned Hoshino Gakki factory—the very same master builders responsible for the legendary 1970s Ibanez acoustics—these Penco house-branded instruments offer stellar vintage MIJ quality at an unbeatable value point.

The A-6 features a comfortable, compact 000-sized folk body shape that delivers an exceptionally sweet, articulate, and mid-forward response perfect for fingerpicking, tracking, or casual strumming. Structurally, it features a spruce top paired with clean mahogany back and sides.

A standout feature is the factory screw-adjustable rosewood bridge saddle layout, allowing you to effortlessly raise or lower the action using a flathead screwdriver to perfectly suit your playing style.

This 50-year-old vintage Japanese player is in great shape and plays beautifully with low, comfortable action:
  • Playability: Freshly checked and set up with excellent, low string action and stable tuning stability across the original vintage open-gear tuners.
  • Cosmetics: The gloss finish has a gorgeous natural amber vibe. It shows honest, superficial cosmetic wear including light finish scuffs/character marks on the lower treble bout and edge of the upper bout (see photos). These are strictly cosmetic and entirely expected for an instrument of this vintage.
  • Case: Includes a matching hard case for secure shipment and storage.
If you’re looking for a highly playable, compact vintage MIJ acoustic with a great pedigree that didn't break the bank, this Penco A-6 is completely dialed in and ready to play.
