Attention luthiers, restoration hobbyists, and parts hunters! Up for grabs at the Japanese Guitar Company is a vintage 1970s Tenesy "Jagard Standard" 5-String Resonator Banjo, manufactured in Nagoya, Japan at the legendary Terada factory.
Before its transit mishap, this was an exceptionally clean, high-grade bluegrass machine featuring beautiful pearloid and abalone fretboard fingerboard inlays, a premium multi-ply bound resonator rim, and a factory headstock badge. Unfortunately, this instrument suffered severe catastrophic damage during shipping to a previous customer and is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, salvage, or a full project rebuild.
Damage Assessment & Missing Parts:
-
Neck Connection: The main structural coordinator rod that mounts the neck securely to the main wood pot/rim assembly is completely sheared and broken.
- The Good News: The neck wood itself is structurally unbroken along the shaft, the frets show minimal wear, and the original geared tuners are fully intact. The multi-ply mahogany rim/pot assembly, chrome tension hooks, armrest, and original Remo Weatherking banjo head are all fully salvageable components for a builder.
What's Included:
- The damaged Tenesy/Jagard banjo assembly as pictured.
- A heavy-duty, vintage plush-lined hard shell case with solid latches (worth the price of admission alone for vintage storage).
- A premium vintage stamped-leather shoulder strap.
- The but and bridge piece
This instrument is 100% non-functional and is sold as a project carcass with no returns
