1970s Fernandes W-200 Vintage MIJ Japan Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

Vintage 1970s Fernandes W-200 acoustic guitar, made in Japan.

The W-200 is an early Fernandes dreadnought from the company's 1970s Japanese production. It features a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, mahogany/nato-family neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, multi-ply body binding, and the distinctive early Fernandes headstock logo. Period/model references list the W-200 at ¥20,000 when new.

This example has just been cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up.

Overall, the guitar is in Fair condition. It shows plenty of cosmetic wear from age and use, including scratches, dings, finish wear, hardware oxidation, and wear around the edges of the body. There is also an area of heavier wear/damage along the edge of the back, as pictured.

Most importantly, the bridge is lifting in the center. This can be clearly seen in the photos and is the primary reason we have rated the guitar Fair rather than Good. The guitar is currently strung and playable, but the bridge should be considered something that may require repair or regluing in the future.

The frets rate approximately 7.8/10, showing moderate wear but with plenty of usable life remaining.

The neck and headstock show normal cosmetic wear for their age, and the tuners show some oxidation but are functioning properly.

A very cool early Fernandes acoustic with attractive figured back and sides and plenty of vintage Japanese character.
