1973 Morris W-20 Terada Vintage MIJ Dreadnought Acoustic

A great-looking 1973 Morris W-20 dreadnought, made in Japan by Terada Musical Instruments during the early years of Morris production.

Unlike many later W-20s that require some guesswork to date, this one is easy: the original interior label clearly identifies it as a W-20 and is dated 1973, with “Terada Musical Inst. Co.” and “Made in Japan” printed directly on the label.

Period references for 1973 W-20 examples describe a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and rosewood bridge, with a traditional full-size dreadnought body.

This guitar has just been cleaned, restrung and set up and is playing nicely.

Overall condition is Very Good. There is normal cosmetic wear consistent with a guitar that is now over 50 years old, including light scratches, marks and finish wear, but it has been preserved exceptionally well overall. The top, back and sides all present nicely, and the neck and fingerboard are also very clean for the age.

The frets show little to no wear and have plenty of life remaining.

These early Terada-built Morris acoustics are a particularly cool part of the Japanese guitar boom, and this one has the added appeal of being clearly dated to 1973 rather than simply being listed as a generic “1970s” example.
