Fender Japan ST62 ’62 Reissue Stratocaster - Lake Placid Blue
For sale is a Fender Japan ST62 ’62-style Stratocaster in Lake Placid Blue, Crafted in Japan.
Serial number P074668 falls within Fender’s official 1999-2002 range for Crafted in Japan P-prefix instruments. Unfortunately, Fender’s serial system from this period does not allow us to narrow it confidently to one exact year, so I would list it as circa 1999-2002 rather than guess.
This is the classic ST62 configuration with a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 21 frets and vintage-style hardware. The ST62 was Fender Japan’s take on an early-’60s Strat, complete with the small headstock, vintage-style logo and traditional SSS layout.
The Lake Placid Blue metallic finish looks fantastic and is particularly striking in person.
This guitar has just been cleaned, restrung and set up and is ready to play.
Overall it is in very good condition for its age. There are some dents, dings, small finish chips and other normal cosmetic/play wear, including the small ding shown in the photos, but nothing major.
The frets have been rated approximately 8/10. There is some visible wear, but nothing excessive and there is still plenty of fret life remaining.
A great example of a late-’90s/early-2000s Crafted in Japan Fender Stratocaster with the traditional ’62 look and a killer Lake Placid Blue finish.
