1998 Grover Jackson RR-CU50Q Rhoads Transparent Red Quilt MIJ w/ Jackson Hard Case

Very cool and exceptionally hard-to-find 1998 Grover Jackson RR-CU50Q Rhoads model made in Japan for the Japanese domestic market.

Finished in a deep Transparent Red over a beautifully figured quilted top, this guitar has an absolutely killer late-’90s Japanese metal aesthetic. The asymmetrical Rhoads-style V body, reverse shark-fin fingerboard inlays, black hardware, angular control plates, and natural-finished maple neck give it a distinctive look that immediately stands out.

The internal neck markings identify this example as an RR-CU50Q, with the “RR” designation corresponding to the Rhoads body style and the “Q” identifying the quilted-top variation. The serial number is 3101468.

Just cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up here at Japanese Guitar Company. It is currently playing great with low action and a fast, comfortable feel up and down the neck.

This model features a bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, reverse shark-fin inlays, dual humbuckers, and a fixed Tune-o-matic-style bridge with string-through-body construction. The fixed bridge provides excellent tuning stability and makes this a great alternative for players who want the aggressive look and feel of a Japanese Rhoads model without a locking tremolo system.

The guitar is equipped with a white humbucker in the neck position and a Duncan Designed humbucker in the bridge position. Both pickups and all electronics are functioning properly.

Overall, the guitar is in good condition, especially considering its age. There are a lot of scratches and dings into the wood on both the front back and sides. I had a hard time capturing them in the photos but the last several photos I shined into the lights so you could get a better idea what I'm talking about. There is also a small finish chip near the neck joint, as shown in the photos. Nothing negatively affects the structure, functionality, or playability of the guitar. The frets remain in very good condition with plenty of life remaining.

Also included is a very nice molded Jackson hard case specifically designed to accommodate the V-shaped body. These fitted molded cases are difficult to find separately and add considerable value to the package.
