Hisous Excellent Guitar Vintage S Style Sunburst w/ Fernandes Case Japan

Here’s a cool and somewhat mysterious piece of vintage Japanese guitar history.

This vintage “Hisous Excellent Guitar” Strat-style guitar was made in Japan and is a fantastic example of the high-quality lawsuit-era and post-lawsuit Japanese production that came out of smaller factories during the late 1970s into the 1980s.

While information on the Hisous brand is extremely limited today, guitars like this were part of the huge wave of Japanese-built instruments that earned Japan its reputation for producing incredibly solid Fender-style guitars during this era. And honestly — this one absolutely delivers.

The first thing that stood out to us after getting this guitar on the bench was just how good the neck feels. The maple neck has that broken-in vintage Japanese feel that’s hard to fake, with comfortable medium-style frets and a smooth satin-like worn-in finish from decades of playing.

The guitar has just been cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up here in our shop with low action and plays great up and down the neck.

Tone-wise, this thing nails that classic bright and articulate vintage Strat sound. The pickups have a really musical chime to them with surprisingly strong clarity and balance across all five positions.

Visually, the guitar wears a really attractive vintage-style 3-tone sunburst finish paired with aged cream pickup covers and a white guard. It has honest cosmetic wear throughout consistent with age, including dings, scratches, finish wear, and general signs of use that honestly give it a lot of character.

These lesser-known Japanese brands are getting increasingly harder to find, especially examples that still retain this much vintage vibe while also being genuinely great players.

This is not a cheap beginner import pretending to be vintage — this is a real deal old-school Japanese Strat with the feel and tone people chase in these MIJ guitars.
