Vintage 1980 Tama TG-120 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar MIJ Rosewood w/ OHSC

Vintage Tama TG-120 dreadnought acoustic guitar made in Japan during the golden era of Japanese acoustic production. Just cleaned, restrung and professionally set up with really low action. Plays great up and down the neck.

These higher-end Tama acoustics are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in this kind of condition. Built during the lawsuit-era boom of the 1970s, the TG-120 was clearly inspired by classic American dreadnought designs and features a beautifully understated vintage look with gorgeous dark rosewood grain and an aged natural finish.

The standout feature on this one is absolutely the wood selection. The rosewood back and sides have a deep, rich chocolate-brown grain with a really classy vintage appearance that almost resembles Brazilian rosewood visually under certain lighting. The back is especially stunning in person and gives the guitar a much more premium feel than many acoustics from the era.

Tone is warm, full and balanced with strong low end, clear highs and excellent projection. This guitar really shines as a strummer with open chords, but still has enough clarity and articulation for fingerpicking and flatpicking styles as well. Plenty of sustain and resonance.

Specs include a solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard with traditional dreadnought construction and X-bracing.

Condition is very good overall for its age. Some visible fretboard wear and normal cosmetic aging throughout from decades of use, but overall a very clean example structurally and cosmetically. Frets still have life left and the guitar plays nicely with comfortable action.
