Vintage Teisco Electric Lap Steel Guitar Japan w/ Original Hard Case & Cable
Up for sale is a vintage Teisco electric lap steel guitar made in Japan.
Teisco produced a wide variety of electric instruments during the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s, and their lap steels remain popular with players looking for affordable vintage tone and distinctive mid-century styling. This example features a single pickup design with individual volume and tone controls, a hardwood body, decorative fretboard markers, and original-style hardware throughout.
We recently cleaned the instrument, installed a fresh set of strings, and tested the electronics. Everything is functioning properly and the guitar is ready to play.
The pickup delivers the warm, focused sound that works well for traditional Hawaiian music, country, western swing, blues, ambient textures, and vintage recording applications. Plugged in, it has the character and charm that many players specifically seek from older Japanese-made lap steels.
Condition is good overall for its age. The instrument shows normal cosmetic wear throughout including scratches, finish wear, oxidation, discoloration to metal hardware, and other signs of decades of use. The pickup cover, bridge assembly, and control plate all show age-related patina consistent with a vintage instrument. Nothing we observed affects functionality.
The original hard case is included and remains functional, though it shows significant cosmetic wear from age and storage. The vintage cable shown in the photographs is also included.
A fun and increasingly collectible vintage Japanese lap steel that offers genuine old-school character without the price tag of many American-made examples.
