Terada HM Semi Hollowbody Electric Guitar Sunburst - Japan w/ Case

Really impressive vintage Made in Japan Terada HM hollowbody electric guitar in a gorgeous tobacco sunburst finish. This is one of those guitars that immediately feels higher-end the second you pick it up — lightweight, resonant, extremely lively acoustically, and very refined compared to many entry-level Japanese hollowbodies from the era.

Just cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up with excellent action. Electronics have also been fully restored and are functioning properly.

The neck feels fantastic with a comfortable medium profile, smooth fretwork, and an overall very “played-in” feel. Acoustically, the guitar is surprisingly loud and resonant, and plugged in the humbuckers deliver a warm, articulate tone that works equally well for jazz, blues, indie, lo-fi, and vintage rock styles.

Visually, this thing is just classy. The tobacco burst finish, multiply binding, tortoise-style pickup covers, open f-holes, and ornate trapeze tailpiece give it a very upscale late-60s / early-70s Japanese boutique vibe. Clearly not a cheaply made instrument.

Condition is very good for its age with normal cosmetic wear throughout including light scratches, small dings, and finish wear consistent with vintage use. Frets still have good life remaining and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck.

These nicer Terada-built guitars are starting to get appreciated more as people realize how well-made many of the higher-end Japanese instruments from this era actually were.
