Turkish Baglama Saz Long Neck Folk Lute Handmade String Instrument

Up for sale is a traditional Turkish baglama (saz) featuring a long neck, bowl-back body, and attractive alternating wood stave construction.

The baglama is one of the most important instruments in Turkish folk music and has been used for centuries throughout Turkey and the surrounding region. Known for its bright, articulate voice and expressive playing style, it remains a staple of traditional folk, classical Turkish, and Middle Eastern music.

This example features a beautifully figured bowl-back body constructed from alternating light and dark wood staves, a spruce top, tied fret construction, and traditional wooden tuning pegs. The decorative soundhole carving and striped bowl give the instrument an especially attractive appearance.

We recently cleaned the instrument and it remains in very good overall condition. The neck is straight, the tuning machines function properly, and the instrument presents well overall.

Condition is very good for its age with only minor cosmetic wear from normal use and handling. There are light surface scratches and small signs of use throughout, but no major structural concerns were observed. Please review all photos carefully for complete cosmetic condition.
