Yamaha SBV-550 - Shelby Blue Japan Bass Guitar

The Yamaha SBV-550 is one of Yamaha’s most distinctive modern bass designs, combining retro Japanese styling with a versatile three-pickup layout and a comfortable, lightweight feel. Finished in a vibrant metallic blue with a matching headstock and aged white pickguard, this is an especially sharp-looking example.

The SBV-550 features three single-coil pickups with individual on/off push-button controls, allowing each pickup to be used independently or combined for a wide variety of tones. From deep, rounded low end to brighter and more articulate sounds, the unusual pickup arrangement gives this bass plenty of tonal flexibility.

It has just been cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up with nice low action. The electronics work properly, and the bass is ready to play.

Overall condition is excellent. There are only minor dings, small finish marks, light scratches, and normal signs of handling. The metallic blue finish remains vibrant and presents extremely well. The pickguard and white pickup covers show some light age-related discoloration, while the chrome hardware has minor surface wear consistent with normal use.

The frets show only light wear and have plenty of life remaining.

A great choice for anyone looking for something different from the usual bass designs, with unmistakable Yamaha styling, versatile electronics, and excellent playability.
