1981 Yamaha SG1000 CS Cherry Sunburst – Made in Japan
Just cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up with a comfortable low action. This SG1000 plays exactly as it should and is ready to go.
This is a 1981 Yamaha SG1000 finished in the classic Cherry Sunburst. Built during Yamaha's golden era of Japanese production, the SG1000 has earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, incredible sustain, and rich, versatile humbucking tones. It features a carved maple top, mahogany body and set neck, ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl split-wing inlays, gold hardware, and Yamaha's renowned build quality.
Serial number 045663 confirms 1981 production.
This example remains structurally sound with a straight neck and fully functional electronics. The frets show medium wear but still have plenty of life remaining, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck after its recent setup.
Cosmetically, the guitar shows honest player wear throughout. There are scratches, dings, finish chips, and hardware patina consistent with a well-played vintage instrument. The most notable wear is several finish chips on the back of the neck, all of which are pictured. None of the cosmetic wear affects the guitar's structural integrity or playability.
Overall, this is an excellent player's-grade 1981 Yamaha SG1000 that delivers everything these legendary Japanese instruments are known for while retaining the character of a guitar that has been played and enjoyed for more than four decades.
