2004 Fender Strat-o-Sonic Dove I Brown Sunburst USA w/ Hard Case
Very cool and fairly uncommon 2004 Fender Strat-o-Sonic Dove I in Brown Sunburst. Made in the USA as part of Fender's short-lived American Special Series, the Strat-o-Sonic was only produced for a brief period in the early 2000s. This one has a Z4 serial number, placing it in 2004.
The Dove I is the stripped-down, single-pickup version of the Strat-o-Sonic. Despite the familiar Strat shape, Fender gave these a much different recipe: a chambered Honduran mahogany body with five tone chambers, 24.75" scale length, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, abalone dot inlays, and a single DE-9000 Black Dove P-90-style pickup. It also features Fender's adjustable Tech-Tonic wraparound bridge and Fender/Schaller tuners.
This guitar is in excellent overall condition with only minor play wear and some light scratches/marks consistent with careful use. The frets show virtually no wear.
It has just been cleaned and set up and is playing great. Electronics are working properly and the single Black Dove pickup gives this guitar a simple, direct setup with plenty of character.
Includes a Road Runner hard case.
A really interesting USA-made Fender from a very short production run, and the single-pickup Dove I is particularly unusual.
