Fender Japan ST-62AS/H 40th Anniversary 1994 Lake Placid Blue Foto Flame

1994 Fender Japan ST-62AS/H 40th Anniversary Stratocaster in Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock and a beautiful Foto Flame neck.

Made in Japan with serial number S021555. The special 40th Anniversary neck plate reads "40 Years of Fender Stratocaster's Still Rockin' 1994."

This is a very cool and increasingly difficult Fender Japan model to come across. The combination of the metallic Lake Placid Blue finish, matching headstock and heavily figured Foto Flame neck really makes this one stand out.

The guitar was just cleaned, restrung and professionally set up and is playing great. Surprisingly, despite the amount of cosmetic wear, the frets show very little wear and have tons of life remaining.

Cosmetically, this is definitely a player's guitar. There are numerous dings, scratches, scuffs and finish chips throughout the body, including some larger areas of wear. Please look through the photos closely, as we have made an effort to show the condition clearly.

The most notable issue is the Foto Flame finish on the back of the neck. There are numerous prominent cracks throughout the Foto Flame layer. These are finish-related and the neck itself is solid. The cracked areas are stable and are not peeling or lifting. There was one area where a piece of the finish had chipped away. That area was stabilized with CA glue and carefully leveled so that while the repair remains visible, it cannot be felt while playing and the surrounding finish is solid.

There is also cracking/chipping around the rear edge of the headstock Foto Flame finish, as pictured.

The tremolo backplate is missing.

If cosmetic wear doesn't bother you, this is an incredible player and a particularly interesting piece of '90s Fender Japan history. Between the 40th Anniversary appointments, matching Lake Placid Blue headstock and dramatic Foto Flame neck, it's a model you don't see come up very often.
