Up for sale is a vintage Greco Mercury Bass made in Japan.

Finished in a beautiful natural ash finish, this Mercury Bass captures the classic look and feel of late-1970s Japanese craftsmanship. These early Greco basses have developed a strong following for their solid construction, comfortable necks, and vintage-inspired tone.

This bass has recently been cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up. It plays well and is structurally sound.

Cosmetically, it shows honest play wear throughout from decades of use. Expect scattered scratches, dings, finish wear, oxidation on some of the hardware, and general cosmetic aging consistent with a vintage instrument. The wear gives it plenty of character without affecting its playability.

The neck plate is stamped L782831, dating the instrument to 1978. It features the original open-gear tuners, vintage-style bridge, rosewood fingerboard, and split-coil pickup. The ash body has particularly attractive grain that really stands out under the natural finish.

Overall, this is a great-playing vintage Japanese bass that's becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in its original natural finish.
